Chief Plenty Coups

The Visions of Chief Plenty Coups is a documentary project showcasing our expertise as producers and fundraisers for historical, indigenous storytelling through filmmaking. With this project, we are in the final editing phase of creating an enduring and accessible documentary series. The series delves into the pivotal role played by Chief Plenty Coups in the inaugural ceremonies at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington, VA. 

By capturing the essence of Chief Plenty Coups' home and the profound legacy he left behind at Chief Plenty Coups State Park, we are bringing his story to a wider audience.

Our involvement in the "Visions of Chief Plenty Coups" project is extensive. From product conception, to fundraising across grants, individual donors, and state partners, to end-to-end film production, our team is and was committed to effectively conveying the profound significance of Chief Plenty Coups' story – through the indigenous lens. 

At the helm of this project is a team of talented filmmakers. Richard Peppers, a indigenous content producer and experienced writer, producer, and film director, leads the way, infusing his expertise and passion into the project. Joining him is Justin Ras and Destini Vaile, both  dedicated indigenous content producers from Montana's Northern Cheyenne Tribe, bringing indigenous perspectives and representation to the forefront. 

Our film production work included more than 200 hours of footage, travel across the country, sourcing and repurposing historical archives, one-on-one interviews from tribal members and history professors. Filming took place in three different locations: Arlington Cemetery, Chief Plenty Coups State Park, and the Crow Reservation in Montana. By covering these diverse settings, we have  ensured  an authentic representation of Chief Plenty Coups' legacy.

Throughout the project, our expertise in content creation, digital and print promotional materials, and running capital campaigns across the state and the country shines through. 

Our dedication to producing high-quality content is evident as we conduct interviews with five tribal members, providing valuable insights and personal perspectives. These interviews serve as a testament to the importance of Chief Plenty Coups' legacy and its impact on the community.

As we continue to shape the narrative, our collaboration with partners and sponsors proves instrumental. The Montana State Parks Foundation and Montana State Parks play integral roles in supporting the documentary production, emphasizing the significance of preserving Chief Plenty Coups' story. 

The Montana Film Office, Humanities Montana and the Billings Community Foundation generously provide sponsorship, further highlighting the cultural and historical value of the project.
